The Current State of Digital Medicine: Transforming Diagnosis, Prevention, and Treatment
Mark S. Cohen
Digital medicine is transforming healthcare through the integration of artificial intelligence, big data, and emerging technologies, supporting diagnosis, prevention, and personalized treatments. The evolution of precision medicine, the use of digital twins to simulate clinical outcomes, and the potential of quantum computing open new possibilities for optimizing therapeutic pathways. Special attention is given to access equity, with solutions like satellite eHealth platforms and AI-based decision-making tools proving effective even in low-resource settings. The evolution of telemedicine toward immersive environments is also explored, with the use of wearables, virtual assistants, and telepresence systems having a significant impact on chronic disease management and addressing the healthcare workforce shortage. These trends and innovations are reshaping healthcare, making it more predictive, personalized, equitable, and sustainable.
