Ruggiero Sfregola doesn't just play an instrument: he has let the violin become part of his breath, a living voice of his love for the world. What is a career for many, is a vocation for him: music as a love gesture, a caress that receives fragilities, a light when the speech is turned off.

He has made music a powerful and discreet presence. It’s not an exhibition, but an encounter. The real musician is a spoon: he serves, he does not hold back. He conveys.

Every note tells a memory, every sound is a glance, a bridge, a relationship. So, in oncology and psychiatry wards, in hospices and in class, Ruggiero doesn't just play for someone, but with someone.

The secret of his gift stands in this “with someone”: music is not a performance, it’s a communion.

From that first “A” that made a five years old kid cry, Ruggiero has never stopped looking for that true sound preceding the sound itself. He knows that when you gift even just a single note with love, it can become a miracle.

Ruggiero Sfregola

Ruggero Sfregola is the Concertmaster of the First Violins in the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. After graduating with honors in violin in 1994, he pursued advanced studies in Chamber Music with Felix Ayo and in violin with Beatrice Antonioni, winning several scholarships and competitions, including positions with the Orchestra of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. He is an active chamber musician, performing with ensembles such as the Sestetto Stradivari, the Quint’etto, and Triofolk, and has played alongside renowned artists like Lisa Batiashvili, Antonio Pappano, and Beatrice Rana. He regularly teaches masterclasses and performs as a soloist and concertmaster at various European festivals. He was described by Felix Ayo as one of his best students and plays on fine instruments, including a violin made for him by luthier Igor Moroder and a 1909 Augusto Pollastri from the Pollastri family.
